Approximate Value: £500,000
Works involved: Lightweight Steel Frame & Dryvit Insulated Render
Lawtech Ltd were appointed by BAM Construction to design, supply and install the lightweight steel frame and external wall insulation to a new Tesco store in Orpington.
This project was the first large scale town centre mixed use scheme for Tesco. The scheme included 5900m² of retail space on two floors with customer car parking on three levels below the store. The scheme also included 73 affordable and for-sale flats above the store, and 200 public car spaces.
The works carried out by Lawtech were a lightweight steel frame system to the residential area and some areas of the store, and external wall insulation using the Dryvit system. The EWI was a mixture of specifications. The residential area finished using the rail system to comply with NHBC (which requires a drain cavity behind the render system when the EWI is not fixed onto a solid masonry background) and to the store a directly fixed system consisting of multiple thicknesses of insulation.
Dryvit designed a “Tesco Red” and “Tesco Blue” specifically for the project and the hard work of our construction team enabled us to carry out further works with the BAM Construction team, which you will be able to see on this web site. The store also won an RIBA award.
