A £1.5million investment has transformed a block of flats which has been a fixture on the Walsall skyline for nearly half a century. Jones House, in Birchills, is in the midst of the most significant internal and external makeover in its 44-year history.

The wall of scaffolding which surrounded the flats during the life of the external work has been removed to unveil a newly rendered exterior in eye-catching green and white. Working with our framework client British Gas, the solid wall insulation has dramatically transformed the look of the traditional block and crucially added an extra layer of insulation to prevent heat loss.

Lawtech Ltd were contracted in September 2010 to install the external wall insulation for British Gas, working alongside the client's existing framework contractor FHM. The work involved installing non-combustible mineral fibre insulation at 90mm thick in order to achieve building regulations, with a silicone render finish in contrasting colours. The existing building was built in the 1960’s was not vertically and horizontally plumb, but installing to laser levels has rectified this issue and the building now has modern colours and a crisp new façade.

Lawtech is one of the largest installers of external wall insulation systems across the UK with offices in Rochester and Glasgow. Lawtech is UKAS accredited to ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 and is an active member of both the NIA & INCA.

Lawtech is able to act as a Principal Contractor on multi million pound “green” retrofit schemes installing and managing multiple energy saving measures, and in addition as a specialist façade contractor working with other contractor partners. We are able to offer advice and assistance in respect to grants and funds schemes available under CERT, CESP and from 2013 Green Deal.
