Have Your Say – Green Deal Consultation Released
On the Wednesday 23rd November 2011 the consultation on the Green deal was finally released.

The much awaited document has been eagerly awaited and as one of the UKs leading installers in Solid Wall Insulation, we would urge any party who may be involved in the Green Deal to have their say.

The key noted points from within the document suggest a £1.3 billion investment per year from the energy obligators. Such an increase from CESP funding will have to be approached with caution. Whilst this creates great opportunity, it must be said that there should be an annual targeting under the Green Deal and ECO to avoid a boom bust roller coaster commercial climate.

The growth must interest the industry as it suggests a growth 10 fold within the Solid Wall Insulation market. The call out for high quality standards is supported by Lawtech Ltd, as such vast increases in an industry is supported with horror stories of inexperienced under qualified applicators jumping on the proverbial band wagon. The industry for training and developing installers will need to grow and material suppliers, the government and installers should come together to provide as such.

Many feared that on the termination of CESP the market will suffer in limbo until take-up of Green Deal and ECO, which provisionally may be slow. A tactical move has been made by the government to try and alleviate these concerns and support the vision of delivery. A £200m injection has been put in place to kick start Green Deal. It has also been advertised that this injection will also reward early adopters financially with an economically more viable solution.

Restrictions on who can apply for a Green Deal have been removed, residents of all kinds, homeowners, or commercial property owners can apply. The market is due to see a £14 billion private sector investment over a 10 year period and suspected figures given to new job roles in the industry stand at 65,000.

The Green Deal is scheduled to reduce carbon emissions, bring the UK into more affordable warmth and drive individuals out of fuel poverty. Not only this the shift of loans onto the profitable energy obligators and the creation of so many new jobs within the industry should assist with the current struggling economy.
